India’s team management, under coach Rahul Dravid, changed the pitch (No. 7) for the first semifinal of the 2023 ODI World Cup without the International Cricket Council’s permission, according to the Daily Mail. The pitch was chosen for the match, which was originally scheduled to be played on a fresh wicket, chosen by ICC’s independent pitch consultant Andy Atkinson. The controversy sparked outrage after the news broke that the pitch was used for the England-South Africa and India-Sri Lanka games at the Wankhede earlier in the tournament.
